Banana and Orange Oaty Bites - Tried and Tested

I found this recipe for banana and orange oaty bites for the boys on Pinterest from myfussyeater.com, and they immediately appealed to me as there's only three ingredients and they were quick to make (and they were cheap too!).

As well as being great for toddlers they're soft so they are perfect for little ones who are being weaned too.

Here's what you'll need:

1 ripe banana
40ml orange juice
75g rolled oats

Pre heat your oven to 170c/340f, and place grease proof paper or a non stick silicone sheet onto a baking tray.

Mash the banana in a bowl using a fork, add the orange juice and then the oats and mix well until all the ingredients are well combined.

Next take one tablespoon of the mix and place onto the baking tray, and repeat with the rest of the mixture.  I got 11 bites out of the mix I made.

Bake for 10 minutes and then leave to cool on a wire rack tray.

Store in an air tight container.

As they contain fresh banana they need to be eaten within 48 hours of being made - but they will freeze and can be defrosted within a couple of hours, and they can be warmed up too.

I made another batch and reduced the amount of orange juice I put in so I only added a dash to help the mixture bind, and then added a handful of raisins - but you could add any dried fruit.

Here's my tried and tested score:

I thought these were really tasty, and were a great snack for me as a mum to grab on the go - unfortunately the boys didn't feel the same way - they are always a bit funny with trying new things, and it takes a few attempts for them to eat anything new.

  1. Wow, 3 ingredients!? How easy - this is perfect for me seeing as I'm terrible at baking! Might add this to my plans for weaning next month!
